Working on the BMW R 1300 RT, we focused on combining touring comfort, aerodynamics and pure technical expression. Our task was to support the philosophy of a motorcycle that is not just about getting from point A to point B, but about riding comfortably and confidently across continents. We aimed to visually lighten the bulky body, fine-tune the proportions and integrate functional elements into an elegant form. The aim was to give customers a sense of security, control and superior comfort – without sacrificing the character of the machine. The BMW R 1300 RT combines the power of a boxer engine, modern technology and a design that is both elegant and determined. We have worked on every detail to support this balance – between performance and peace of mind, between protection and freedom.

A combination of travel comfort, aerodynamics and pure technical expression

Designing a touring motorcycle like the BMW R 1300 RT was a challenge for us in terms of balance – between volume and lightness, function and aesthetics, protection and emotion. We needed to create a form that would look elegant even with the large fairing, while at the same time not hinder the perception of the performance that the motorcycle hides.

Protection from wind and weather
Designed variable deflectors allows the rider to adjust the airflow. The lower position provide ventilation, the upper position significantly increase comfort and protection - a noticeable difference compared to the previous model.

Compactness of rider protection
The compact design of the windscreen and the adaptive headlight trim ensure perfect visibility at every angle of inclination and during every phase of the day. The light and its positioning react dynamically to driving conditions – for greater confidence and safety.

Smart equipment
The design of the audio output covers has been designed for the perfect music experience while driving. The Connectivity Hub allows you to easily control all BMW accessories. We have taken comfort and quality to a new level.

Luggage system
The luggage mounts and holders have been designed to offer riders maximum space, safety and comfort. The interior lighting and integrated socket in the left case increase practicality during long journeys.

Project management
Project manager from our company, responsible for communication with the development team from the customer's side. This position is essential for the success of our participation in the project, but also for the success of the entire project at the customer's. The person in this position is responsible for creating conceptual designs, has an overview of all development activities, perfectly controls the follow-ups and actively participates in the management of all activities up to the serial production of the given product.
CAD design
Seasoned professionals in the field of production methods, whether it is plastic moldings, bent parts, pressed sheets, castings from various types of alloys or carbon composites. Our employees in this position were tasked with designing technical solutions based on the customer's assignment with regard to functionality, manufacturability, assembly and economy. We first materialize the designs digitally in the CATIA V5 software, then the designed components are manufactured according to the designed production methods.
Documentation
Part of the assignment for us was to participate in the complete documentation of the components we designed. We also actively participated in the creation of production processes both at the customer and at the customer's suppliers.
